History
Dearborn Municipal Employees Credit Union, established in 1936, was one of the first chartered credit unions in Michigan. The original field of membership consisted of City of Dearborn employees and their immediate families. In 1998 an expansion to our field of membership to include anyone age 55 or older receiving a pension in Wayne County, constituted a name change to Dearborn Municipal Credit Union. In 1999 RM Employees Credit Union merged into Dearborn Municipal Credit Union further expanding our membership base and increasing our assets. Also in 1999, the Credit Union received a community charter for the eastern portion of Dearborn, which resulted in our present name Dearborn Village Community Credit Union. In 2002 our community charter was expanded from East Dearborn to include the entire community of Dearborn. On September 1, 2003 Associated Metro Federal Credit Union partnered with Dearborn Village Community Credit Union through a merger agreement expanding our field of membership to include zip codes 48209, 48210 and 48216 in the community of Southwest Detroit.
